"We had such an amazing, interesting and fun walking tour with this group. Arn was absolutely fabulous and so knowledgeable about his hometown and beloved city of Gent. My partner and I were traveling in Belgium and Europe together for the first time and this was by far our favorite tour. Would highly recommend and also take Arn's suggestions on where to eat and visit in addition to the tour!"
"My family just got back from a spring break trip to Paris and Belgium. Our group included 4 adults and 2 teenagers, and the 6 of us unanimously deemed Arn as our favorite tour guide of the entire trip. Do not hesitate to select Arn as your guide in Ghent. He was warm, easy-going, knowledgeable, and passionate about his city. He told us fascinating stories and historical facts without it getting boring or long-winded. He also had perfect pacing at each stop we visited. We were all charmed by Arn and Ghent, and based on his tour, we would love to visit Ghent again and spend more time there.
A visit to the actual Ghent Altarpiece is NOT included in this tour. It requires a ticket which makes it too expensive for this tour.
However, I will give you an introduction into the painting. I'll tell you what to look at, why it is important, and why it is such an important masterpiece. I highly recommend buying a ticket to see the painting after the tour.
If you'd like to visit the Ghent Altarpiece together with me, I do offer this as an extension of this tour. Please contact me for more information.
Ghent is quite compact, so we only walk a couple of minutes between very stop. The full tour is about 2 kilometers (1 mile) of walking. As this is a private tour, I will adapt the speed and the pace according to your wishes. If needed, we can include a coffee/beer break.
Yes! As this is a private tour, I will adapt to your group. For children I like to make everything a little bit more engaging and interactive. I include some stories that they'll enjoy.
This is a private tour, I will adapt to your speed. Do keep in mind that Ghent is a city full of cobblestones which cannot be fully avoided. But I will do my best for people with a wheelchair or rollator.
Great for first-time visitors, couples, families who want an introduction to the city.
Culture lovers who want to learn what makes Ghent so unique
Visitors who want to walk around and learn something about local culture
On this tour we only walk short distances, with frequent rest stops.
Children and teenagers will also enjoy this tour. And for them 2h is a perfect lenght!
As this is a private tour, I can be flexible where I start. There's generally two options:
I pick you up at your hotel if it's on walking distance of the route (examples: Marriott Hotel Ghent, The Post 1898, NH hotel, ...)
I meet you at a set meeting point. Usually this is on the Korenmarkt square in the city center.
Yes! We will have some small tastings, including a visit to my favorite chocolate shop in the city.
