I offer historical tours, walking tours, food & beer tasting tours, and bicycle tours. Discover Ghent together with a local!
Hi! My name is Arn. I'm a born and raised Ghentian. I've lived here all my life, and I would love to show you my hometown! I offer private and customized tours in the city of Gent, Belgium. Do you want to discover the history and see the sights with a true local?
After a career in IT, I decided to become a professional tour guide. I bring history to life with some digestible context, bizarre anecdotes, surprising fun facts and lively stories about Ghent and the Ghentians.
I'm fluent in Dutch (Nederlands) and English and can offer the tours in these two languages.

The Golden Ages of Ghent
The classic tour. I guide you by the Three Towers, Belfry, Saint-Bavo's Cathedral, Gravensteen, Graslei and Korenlei, and several other highlights in the city.
The full story of Ghent.
On top of the highlights, we discover more off the beaten path neighborhoods: Patershol, Prinsenhof.
The full story + the modern city
Most tourists only see the old town of Ghent. But there's so much more. We add stops like the new library, the student district, winter circus.
Discover food and its history!
Maybe my favorite tour. You'll discover a lot of the city and its history, by tasting! You'll taste about 10 different things, from hearty dishes to local sweets. And of course, a Belgian beer tasting is included!
Discover other parts of town
Discover neighbourhoods where more visitors never get to. The Old Docks, Portus Ganda, the Student District, the Beguinages, and even some more natural areas. This is the best tour if you want to truely experience the variety of Ghent.

"We learnt so much on this walking tour with Arn. He took us off the beaten track to places we wouldn't have known about. It was a fun and educational afternoon, thanks Arn!" (Jane)
A few years ago, Ghent was called the Hidden Gem of Europe by Lonely Planet. A great city to visit (and to live in), but often overlooked in favor of Brussels or Bruges. But Ghent is a real gem, and worth a stop when you're visiting Belgium. Wether you're staying for a few days or just on a day trip. What my city has to offer you:
A vibrant city center where locals live, go out and enjoy themselves.
A student city with a lively atmosphere. Bars and cafes on every corner, great places to sit down for one of our specialty beers.
A city center packed with medieval monuments, historic houses, and gothic-style churches.
The impressive 12th century Castle of The Counts, right in the heart of the city.
Great local food. From local sweets like the Cuberdons and prize-winning chocolates, to savory dishes like mussels, waterzooi or Flemish stew.
Great pieces of art, most of all the famous Ghent Altarpiece.
And much much more. Want to discover it together with a local guide? Take a look at my private guided tours or book me via this website or via email!
