After a career in IT, I decided to become a professional tour guide. I bring history to life with some digestible context, bizarre anecdotes, surprising fun facts and lively stories about Ghent and the Ghentians.

A few years ago, Ghent was called the Hidden Gem of Europe by Lonely Planet. A great city to visit (and to live in), but often overlooked in favor of Brussels or Bruges. But Ghent is a real gem, and worth a stop when you're visiting Belgium. Wether you're staying for a few days or just on a day trip. What my city has to offer you:
A vibrant city center where locals live, go out and enjoy themselves.
A student city with a lively atmosphere. Bars and cafes on every corner, great places to sit down for one of our specialty beers.
A city center packed with medieval monuments, historic houses, and gothic-style churches.
The impressive 12th century Castle of The Counts, right in the heart of the city.
Great local food. From local sweets like the Cuberdons and prize-winning chocolates, to savory dishes like mussels, waterzooi or Flemish stew.
Great pieces of art, most of all the famous Ghent Altarpiece.
